Return Date Announced – Man Utd fans react on Paul Pogba injury as Juventus misery hits new low

Paul Pogba left Manchester United for Juventus last year, and the midfielder has had a difficult time in Turin.

Last summer, when Paul Pogba returned to Juventus from Manchester United, it felt like a match made in heaven. However, the France international’s second tenure in Turin has now reached a new low after he was forced to leave after only 24 minutes due to an injury in his team’s 2-0 win over Cremonese. The 30-year-old was in tears as he walked off the pitch and now faces yet another stint on the bench.

Pogba made his first start of the season on Sunday night, with Massimiliano Allegri bringing him on after a brilliant cameo off the bench against Sevilla two days before.

The France international, though, was dragged off the pitch after only 24 minutes and appeared extremely concerned.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri expressed his unhappiness with his player after the game, saying, “We’re all disappointed, not least because he was playing quite well.”

“It’s unfortunate because he’s made many sacrifices to return.”

“He has broad shoulders. When you’ve gone a year without playing, there’s always a risk, especially when you start the match.”

Clearly, United appears to have escaped with their lives. They chose to let Pogba leave on a free transfer last season rather than offer him another lucrative new contract.

They made it clear, though, that they had no bad blood, and while some are delighting in the 30-year-old’s woes, considering how he failed to win the Red Devils the biggest rewards on offer, that is not how his old side will feel.

When United let Pogba go last year, they paid respect to the France international, saying his achievements should be “applauded and celebrated.”

“But for a boy who joined the Academy at 16 to make over 200 United appearances and lift the Youth Cup, along with two major pieces of silverware – not to mention the World Cup at international level – is something that should be applauded and celebrated,” they wrote.

“Everyone at Manchester United would like to congratulate Paul on his successful career and thank him for his contributions to the club.”

“We wish him all the best as he continues on his incredible journey.”

United, on the other hand, is moving on.

They are expected to sign another midfielder this summer, with Ryan Gravenberch, James Maddison, Frenkie de Jong, and Declan Rice all being linked with transfers.

Following the injuries to Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen, there was some speculation that the Red Devils may re-sign Pogba on loan.

That, however, was never going to happen. He is a relic of the club’s past, not a ray of optimism for the future.

While United may believe they averted a banana skin by allowing Pogba to leave, his troubles in Turin will be heartbreaking.

On his best days, he is a spectacular footballer, one of the best in the world.

But, despite being in his peak years, Pogba is becoming somewhat of an afterthought.

It would be intriguing to watch when he returns to action, as he has only made 10 appearances for Juventus since his Hollywood return.

However, it is more likely that he will return to action next season, allowing him to spend the entire summer working on his fitness to ensure he returns in the best possible shape.

Meanwhile, prior to Juventus’ victory, Allegri stated that he had surprised Pogba by selecting the 2018 World Cup winner.

“Pogba didn’t think he was going to play today, and I surprised him with this,” he explained.

“He doesn’t have 90 minutes, but I’d be happy if he could complete the first half in good shape.”
