Just In: Interim manager is about to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

According to sources, Manchester United has chosen not to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on an interim basis. With his team’s poor form, the Norwegian is under a lot of pressure at Old Trafford. And today’s setback against Watford will just add to the chorus of calls for his dismissal.

United takes on Watford in an attempt to get their season off to a good start.

So far, Solskjaer’s reign has been abysmal, with the Red Devils losing six of their last 12 games in all competitions.

As a result of their problems, United has been associated with a number of potential managers, including Brendan Rodgers, Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, and Zinedine Zidane.

Jose Mourinho was fired the last time things were this bad, in December 2018.

United subsequently recruited Solskjaer on a temporary basis, with the expectation that he would only stay for the rest of the season.

After impressing in the role, the 48-year-old was offered the post permanently in March 2019 after a 3-1 Champions League triumph away at Paris Saint-Germain.

However, according to the Independent, the Red Devils have chosen not to go down that road again when it comes to choosing an interim manager.

Ralf Rangnick has been mentioned as a prospective Solskjaer replacement.

However, it appears that United will only fire the Norwegian if they have a permanent replacement lined up.

Rodgers made it apparent in the middle of the week that he was happy at Leicester, where he has been in charge since February 2019.

After nearly four years in command, Ten Hag has done a similar job, with the Dutchman enjoying life at Ajax in Amsterdam.

Pochettino, on the other hand, is a tough appointment because of his commitment to Paris Saint-Germain.

With the 49-year-old having left Real Madrid earlier this year, Zidane’s availability makes him a viable option.

However, it has been rumored that he would love to return to management with the France national team.

And whether United will fire Solskjaer in the near future is a question only time will answer.

Meanwhile, Gary Neville has defended himself after being chastised for refusing to advocate for Solskjaer’s dismissal.

“Some people are saying this is the worst point of my punditry career,” he told the Daily Mail.

“They claim I’m not being truthful. But I’m not paid to fire managers on TV, and I’m not going to do it.

“I understand the ramifications of Gary Neville saying a Manchester United manager should be fired.”

“Well done” to the pundits who said it, but it’s not my style.

“I wince whenever I see another pundit pushing for a sacking. My stomach begins to turn.

That has crossed my line. “Perhaps their line is in a different location.”

If United fires Solskjaer, he’ll be the club’s fourth manager since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure.

At Old Trafford, David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, and Jose Mourinho all lost their positions after failing to meet expectations.
