Inter Milan join race to sign Man United striker on free transfer
After a stop-start second season with the Red Devils, Cavani’s contract at Old Trafford expires at the conclusion of the season, and he will not be signing a new one.
This season, the 35-year-old has only made six Premier League starts and scored two league goals, a big drop from his ten league goals previous season.
Cavani was connected with a move to Barcelona last summer, and the Catalan club is still being mentioned as a possible destination for the striker, who is also pondering a return to South America, with Boca Juniors being mentioned as a prospective suitor.
Inter are considering an approach for the Uruguayan, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, who see him as a possible replacement for Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean is under contract with Inter until 2023, but considering his huge wages, he is expected to leave sooner rather than later.
