The 24-year-old’s Chelsea future is still up in the air as his contract is set to expire after the upcoming campaign. It appears Erik ten Hag’s team will try to take advantage of the circumstance.

United is getting ready to make Mount an offer of £50 million, but the Blues are holding out for a price closer to £ 80 million, according to TalkSPORT.

Rabiot might be used by United as a less expensive Mount substitute because the club is prioritizing the recruitment of a striker in the off-season.

Rabiot to Man United claim by Romano
Fabrizio Romano claims that Ten Hag has started the process of signing Adrien Rabiot to a free deal this summer.

The transfer expert revealed in an interview with Caught Offside that “contacts have been made” due to Manchester United’s renewed interest in Adrien Rabiot.

Rabiot will make a decision on his future shortly because there isn’t an official offer and Juventus has also given Rabiot a proposal for a new contract.

Following the breakdown of negotiations last summer, Romano continued in a Tweet: “Manchester United are still interested in Adrien Rabiot, as noted by ten Hag. Nothing has progressed as of yet because several clubs [Bayern, like him] are competing, and timing depends on club sales.

“Juve offered him a new deal, but it’s still unlikely [he’ll sign it.]”

It was widely reported that United was interested in Rabiot as a replacement for Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona last summer.

The sides were unable to reach a personal agreement for the France international despite reaching a €20 million (£17 million) deal with Juventus.

Rabiot allegedly wanted to join United at a salary of roughly £175,000 per week plus bonuses, though it has subsequently been stated that the figures were overblown.
