According to football.london, Lucas Torreira is poised to sign a permanent deal with Fiorentina this summer. Torreira has made 24 appearances for La Viola in all competitions, most recently scoring in a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan – the same game in which he lost a tooth.

Torreira, 26, joined the Italian club on loan from Arsenal last summer and has established himself as an important player in their midfield this season. The agreement includes a buy option worth roughly £13 million, with Fiorentina presently negotiating to make the move permanent.

Torreira has played 89 times for Arsenal since signing from Sampdoria in 2018, tallying four goals and six assists. He hasn’t featured for the Gunners since July 2020, however. He recently penned a letter recalling his time in the Arsenal dressing room to the Italian news outlet Cronache Di Spogliatoio.

“Every time I go to the national team,” he added, “I attempt to take advantage of my proximity to specific champions.” “I’ve had the good fortune to meet several of them. I didn’t speak English my first year at Arsenal, but some of the players spoke Italian, including Sokratis, Stephan Lichtsteiner, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

“Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette sat next to me in the dressing room. Madness. Consider this: I’m drinking mate, and they’re right next to me. We’ve arrived in London. Remember how I said Fray Bentos meat? I didn’t leave the house much because I had someone who would bring me shopping on a regular basis.

“I go to the grocery one day, and while browsing the shelves, I notice a label with the name of my city: ‘Made in Fray Bentos.’ Exactly like me. A 25,000-person town in the London aisles. It was exciting. Yes, it was in a tin, but it was exciting.”
