‘I Can’t Believe It’ – Pundit stunned by Man United dressing room twist in last 24 hrs
Paddy Kenny has supported Harry Maguire amid new claims that he could lose his captaincy at Manchester United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds United stopper claims the defender isn’t the lone underperformer at Old Trafford.
On Friday morning, Maguire, 28, took to Twitter to deny claims of a power struggle between himself, Ralf Rangnick, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Rangnick admitted Maguire had “weaker moments” in recent games, but claimed he would not be deprived of the captaincy, as reported by Sky Sports on Tuesday (15 February).
Rangnick’s side had surrendered a 1-0 lead in the previous three games before beating Brighton on Tuesday (15 February), with Maguire lambasted by fans on social media.
Kenny feels bad for Maguire and slams the timing of these new reports.
“This is all nonsense that Manchester United doesn’t need out there,” Kenny told Football Insider writer Ben Wild.
“We don’t know how true these stories are. You wouldn’t believe how much nonsense is thrown around.
“It comes at a poor moment for Maguire, who will lift his hands up and admit that he hasn’t been at his best this season.”
“But who has at Manchester United? It isn’t just him. Maguire seems to be the only one that gets criticized.
“A lot of the players there need to look in the mirror. They are grossly underachieving in comparison to the players they have.
“The last thing Manchester United needs, and it irritates me that Maguire is always to blame.”
With their 2-0 win over Brighton, Manchester United moved up to fourth place in the Premier League.
The goals of Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes were decisive against the Seagulls.
In other news, an ex-FIFA official demands a change after studying the Harry Maguire scandal.
I’ve seen a lot of reports about this club that aren’t true and this is another. Not going to start posting about everything that is written but I needed to make this one clear. We’re united and focused on Sunday. Enjoy your day everyone 💪🏻 @ManUtd https://t.co/YxLhQn8pqf
