Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that he will remain at Manchester United beyond the summer after expressing his pleasure at the club.

Last year, the Portuguese superstar made an emotional return to the club after leaving Italian champions Juventus. Despite an unsuccessful season with the Red Devils, the 37-year-old had a productive personal season, scoring 24 goals in all competitions.

However, doubts have developed over his long-term future at Old Trafford. With only a year left on his contract and United having been relegated to the Europa League, it has been rumoured that he could seek a speedy exit.

However, Ronaldo has stated his delight with life with the Red Devils, expressing his desire to continue producing the signature performances that fans have come to expect from the former Real Madrid star.

In an interview with Manchester United’s website, he stated, “Of course, I was thrilled to be back at a club that truly lifted my career.” So it was incredible.

“It was good to sense the supports when I (came) back again.” They are quite happy. I was – and continue to be – overjoyed to be here.”

“I believe Manchester will be where they belong,” Ronaldo concluded. As I already stated, it takes time, but I continue to believe. The records are trickling in gradually. I don’t keep track of the records, but the records keep track of me. So it’s all good.

“It’s still my drive to keep going.” Just hard labor. I still admire the enthusiasm for the game. And, of course, Manchester and my teammates helped me all the way, so I have to thank everyone that assists Cristiano.”

Ronaldo will play under his third boss at Old Trafford next season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer oversaw his return to the club before being fired and replaced by interim manager Ralf Rangnick. The German had a terrible tenure in charge, with former Ajax schemer Erik ten Hag likely to take over next season.

Ronaldo has spoken out over the Dutchman’s appointment at Old Trafford, calling for him to be given the opportunity to get down to work at the club even if things don’t go as planned at first.

“I know he [Ten Hag] performed an excellent job with Ajax and is an experienced coach,” he remarked. “But we must give him time, and things must change in the way he desires.”

“Of course, I hope we succeed. Because if you succeed, the entire city of Manchester will benefit. So I wish him the best of luck. Not only the players, but also the fans, are overjoyed and enthusiastic.”

“I wish him the best, and let’s hope we can win trophies next year.”
