Shaw, who has just linked up with Sancho down the left flank and knows Jadon from their time together with England, thinks the former Borussia Dortmund winger has a bright future ahead of him and sees him developing into a world-class player.

Since the international break, Sancho has scored twice in three games and was named Man of the Match after the Premier League games against Burnley and Southampton.

Luke understands how difficult the first few months at a new club can be, having experienced it himself when he moved from Southampton at the age of 18, but he feels the last fortnight has shown that things are looking up for our no.25.

“The most perplexing thing about Jadon is how young he is,” Luke told United Review. “I didn’t realise he was that young even when I played with him for England.”

“He’s a fantastic football player.” It’s not easy when you first arrive here — I know from experience.

“He’s starting to find his feet a little bit more now, and it’s showing in the way he’s playing, especially in the last few games.”

“He’s starting to shine, he’s getting more on the ball and dribbling well, and he’s doing the same things he did at Dortmund.” He’ll only grow better as time goes on. I’m having fun playing with him right now, and I’m extremely glad for him because he had a rough start.

“He’s going to be a world-class player with a tonne of potential.” He simply needs to keep working hard, improving his ability, and become a valuable member of our club.”

Shaw and Sancho’s chemistry has been a bright spot in a difficult recent period, with the duo combining brilliantly, notably in the first half at Burnley.

Luke has a great friendship with his younger teammate and believes that communication is vital to building trust on the field.

While there are signs of progress, the 26-year-old says the pair still have work to do.

“Of course,” says the speaker. In that sense, the entire squad converses. “We have a lot of different discussions about what we think is best in a game,” Shaw continued.

“I’m pretty good friends with Jadon, so it’s not difficult to communicate with him.” He’s currently playing in front of me, so we’ve been talking a lot about what he wants, what he wants me to do, and what I want him to do.

“Things are going great right now, but there’s still a lot more we can do on that side to make us even more deadly.”
