“I will Join but On One condition” – Pep Guardiola makes Man Utd promise to his players that would upset Etihad bosses

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has expressed his belief that blocking a player from joining a rival team, such as Manchester United or Liverpool, would be characteristic of “a small club.”

Guardiola, however, acknowledged that the ultimate decision might rest with the club’s hierarchy.

In the upcoming match against Chelsea, City will face former players Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer.

Reflecting on his approach to player transfers, Guardiola stated that he would never prevent an unsettled player from signing with a serious rival, emphasizing that such decisions are typically made for the benefit of all parties involved.

Guardiola emphasized, “Big clubs, they don’t care. They make decisions for the benefit of all three parties: players and both clubs – and the agents sometimes.”

He highlighted that allowing players to move to other top clubs is not a problem as long as it aligns with the interests of all parties.

Sterling, who left City last year, and Palmer, who joined Chelsea in a £42.5 million deal this summer, serve as examples of players who pursued opportunities with rivals after discussions with Guardiola.

The manager noted that Palmer, despite initially being assured of more game-time following Riyad Mahrez’s departure, expressed a desire to leave, and Guardiola respected his decision.

Guardiola concluded by acknowledging Palmer’s talent and wished him success, noting that the young player got what he wanted and is doing well.
