Having struggled to secure significant playing time under manager Erik ten Hag this season, the Dutchman, deemed a fringe player, has played less than 30 minutes across all competitions.

Last week, it was officially announced that Van de Beek would be joining Frankfurt on loan, including a buy clause.

The medical assessment proceeded smoothly, and although some minor details of the agreement are still pending clarification between the clubs, Plettenberg anticipates a formal announcement of the deal later this week.

Van de Beek, who arrived at Manchester United from Ajax for €39 million three years ago with considerable acclaim, is set to conclude what has been a challenging stint at the club.

Despite early expectations of him becoming a pivotal figure in the number eight position, he has struggled to adapt to the demands of the Premier League and has failed to make a significant impact, registering only two goals and two assists in 62 appearances.

The move to the German Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt, where he will be on loan with an option for the club to buy him for €10 million next summer, offers Van de Beek the opportunity to rejuvenate his career.

Manchester United will be keenly observing his performance, hopeful that he can make a compelling case for the buy clause to be triggered.

In addition to Van de Beek’s departure, there is speculation about other potential exits from Manchester United in January, including Anthony Martial, whose contract expires at the end of the season, and Jadon Sancho, linked with a return to Borussia Dortmund following a fallout with the manager.
