‘I can tell you’ – Fabrizio Romano reveals big Man United news that will ‘100%’ happen
The Italian journalist was commenting on his YouTube channel following Manchester United’s Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.
United are still in with a chance of finishing in the top four this season, sitting just one point behind Arsenal — despite having played three more games than the Gunners.
Cristiano Ronaldo stole the show at Old Trafford on Saturday, scoring a sensational hat trick to secure a point for Ralf Rangnick’s side.
However, Romano feels that with Edinson Cavani due to leave at the conclusion of the season, United will continue to hunt for a new striker:
(3:15) “There are two things I can tell you. Man United will almost certainly acquire a new striker this summer since they are already scouting the market. But, at some point, Cristiano will never be a problem for that type of deal.”
Cavani has had a rough season despite extending his stay in the Premier League last summer, with only two goals in 12 Premier League games.
In general, Ronaldo has performed well in all competitions; nevertheless, his Premier League goals have been inconsistent since his strong start to the season (via Transfermarkt).
The 37-year-old has one year left on his United deal and is certainly not a long-term solution for the Red Devils.
However, with a new manager due to arrive in the summer, we will be eager to see who they consider as a prospective striker option, with Harry Kane recently connected.
