The United captain was booed not only when his name was announced on the Wembley tannoy system, but also when he made his first touch. However, the 29-year-old was able to quiet part of the fans as England cruised to a 3-0 victory.

Maguire was also praised for his contribution to England’s second goal of the night. United fans praised his ability to set Ollie Watkins free in the build-up to Raheem Sterling’s goal, and hoped to see more of it before the end of the season.
