Despite Aaron’s Wan-recent Bissaka comeback in the absence of the injured Diogo Dalot, United is still looking for a replacement right-back.

Denzel Dumfries of Inter Milan has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent times, but rumors of interest in Mbabu come as a great surprise.

Since joining Fulham from Wolfsburg last summer, Switzerland international has made just seven appearances in all competitions for Marco Silva’s side.

However, according to Tuttomercatoweb (via Goal)(opens in new tab), United has made considerable progress in negotiations to recruit Mbabu this month.

According to the article, Serie A newcomers Monza are also interested in Mbabu, which, given their relative inexperience, could put United well ahead in any battle to sign the 27-year-old.

Mbabu, who has 22 caps for Switzerland but was not selected for the 2022 World Cup squad, is presently valued at slightly more than £6 million by Transfermarkt (opens in new tab).

Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan voiced his joy upon Mbabu’s arrival at Craven Cottage last July, claiming that the club had been after him for a number of years (opens in new tab).

Mbabu, on the other hand, hasn’t even been named to the Cottagers’ matchday squad for any of their last six games in all competitions, suggesting that he’s already surplus to needs in West London and leaving the door open for a transfer.
