According to rumors in Holland, PSV could be forced to sell Cody Gakpo for as little as £25 million when the January transfer market opens. With his sizzling performances in the Eredivisie, the red-hot winger has been one of the most in-form players in world football this season, prompting interest from a slew of Premier League clubs.

Gakpo has 13 goals and 14 assists in 21 games this season, and he performed admirably again in midweek as PSV defeated Arsenal 2-0 in the Europa League.

United had considered signing the flying Dutchman before landing Antony for £86 million from Ajax, and a deal might be revisited at a later date, with Erik ten Hag reportedly a huge fan of the player.

According to the respectable Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, PSV cannot afford to reject another mega-money offer for Gakpo because the club is currently facing financial difficulties.

According to reports, Gakpo might be sold for as little as £25 million in January, representing significant savings for all potential buyers.

United’s interest has not been extinguished by the signing of Antony, as they continue to restructure their squad under their new head coach.

Ten Hag spoke with Gakpo in the summer, and the player was completely sold on his Old Trafford dream despite the fact that a deal did not materialize.

“I was on the verge of quitting,” Gakpo told The Times. “I spoke to Erik ten Hag a couple times at Manchester United.”

“In the end, the deal fell through, which was unfortunate for me and my development, as Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, but also for PSV, as transferring a player to Manchester United is a fantastic thing for the club.”

Leeds and Southampton were also interested in Gakpo, but PSV was unable to reach an agreement with either club in the closing stages of the transfer window.

Due to his outstanding play, it appears Gakpo will only consider a Premier League move to one of the Big Six.

Arsenal has also conducted inquiries on the midfielder, although it is unknown whether they are prepared to make an offer to rival Manchester United for his services.

Gakpo went on to express his desire to relocate to England: “It ended about a week before the transfer window closed, and in that week I had to decide whether to go to Leeds or Southampton. I eventually stayed, but it was a tough time.’

“I always said that if I stay here, it will be my childhood club. It is not a penalty. I enjoy being here, and I hope to win trophies and do my best for the club.

“But if I got the chance to play in the Premier League or anything, I’d have to think about it. It was a hectic moment for me, but I recovered soon.”
