What occurred during Manchester United’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Halifax Town?
Raphael Varane, Amad, and Alejandro Garnacho took part in another behind-closed-doors friendly at Carrington.
Manchester United defeated Halifax Town 5-1 behind closed doors on Monday, with Alejandro Garnacho and Amad scoring.
After six official friendlies, United planned for another behind-closed-doors game at their Carrington training site to offer squad players more minutes early in the season.
United’s stars included Tom Heaton, Raphael Varane, and Eric Bailly, while teenage defender Will Fish also saw action.
None of the players who saw major action in the 2-1 loss to Brighton on Sunday were involved.
Varane and Bailly scored for United, while Amad scored twice and Garnacho also scored. Garnacho and Amad scored in the previous behind-closed-doors friendly two weeks ago against Wrexham.
United’s players thanked the club for scheduling an extra game against the National League side.
Last month, United welcomed fifth-tier team Wrexham to Carrington and won 4-1, with Christian Eriksen scoring on his debut.
On Saturday, United travel to Brentford for their first away game of the season, and adjustments are unavoidable following the morale-shattering performance against Brighton.
United manager Erik ten Hag stated on Friday that the 29-year-old Varane, who was on the bench over the weekend, had received a specific training program.
“We built him pretty meticulously during pre-season (with) a customized program,” Ten Hag added. “He has been on the pitch every practice for the previous three weeks, I believe, and I am extremely pleased with that.”
“You can see him improving in terms of fitness and performance. So that makes me very happy. Raphael will be fit for the time being. It is a tremendous asset to the squad and the team.”
