The Frenchman has only played 45 minutes in the Premier League this season, in a 2-1 triumph over Liverpool at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford’s second-half goal was assisted by him.

He was, however, left out of the team for the weekend’s win over Southampton due to an injury sustained in training. Ten Hag has now stated that Martial would also miss the midweek match at the King Power Stadium.

Defender Victor Lindelof is one player on the verge of a comeback. The Sweden international has returned to training, but the match versus City may be too soon for him.

“Victor Lindelof is training with the team; we’ll see how far he is today,” Ten Hag stated during his pre-game press conference, according to the Manchester Evening News. “He was out for three weeks after just one session. Martial is currently unavailable.”

Antony, another new acquisition for Manchester United, will be unavailable to the manager. The Brazilian moved to Old Trafford for £85.5 million this week, but he is yet to be registered in time to face City.

The game takes place on the night of the transfer deadline, which means that several players who are expected to play may be in doubt. Cristiano Ronaldo’s future has been discussed, with the Portuguese forward named to the bench for the last two games. Ten Hag, on the other hand, has stated that the Portuguese international will remain at Old Trafford beyond this summer.
