Erik ten Hag’s team has not played since their thrilling 2-1 win over Fulham on November 13th.

This is the first of four games in 13 days for United, who will return to Premier League action as well as compete in the FA Cup’s third round.

United advanced to the fourth round of the EFL Cup after defeating Aston Villa 4-2 in the Premier League.

While Burnley has beaten QPR and Middlesbrough since returning to league action, the Lancashire club will be eager to cause an upset on Wednesday night. In the previous round, the Clarets defeated League Two side Crawley Town 3-1 to set up this intriguing tie.

We take a look at how Manchester United might line up against their opponents as the game on Wednesday approaches…

Because this is United’s first game in almost five weeks, ten Hag may have to call on a few players who may be rusty.

United will be without a few key players for this encounter, as their World Cup competitors have either returned to the club or have yet to return.

As a result, ten Hag will have to make some judgments about his team, one of which is in goal. Martin Dubravka played in the win over Villa in the previous round, but given that they haven’t played in five weeks, ten Hag may prefer to maintain the regular number-one David De Gea in goal.

Another conundrum for the Dutchman is that both of his normal full-backs are expected to miss this game, which means Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams will both be given rare starts. The duo has yet to play a competitive game under ten Hag, but they both recently returned to training and played two friendly games during the break.

On the plus side, Christian Eriksen may be eligible to start this cup encounter because his Denmark squad was eliminated in the group stage of the World Cup and went home earlier than others.

Winger Antony, who didn’t play much for Brazil in the World Cup since the South Americans were knocked out early, could possibly be available for this game.

Anthony Martial, the Manchester United striker, will be hoping to regain match fitness after a difficult season due to bruises and injuries. While emerging star Alejandro Garnacho will aim to build on his performance against Fulham in this EFL Cup clash.
