De Gea is the goalkeeper.

While Manchester United is thought to have tossed around the idea of signing a new goalkeeper before next season, reports suggest that talks have taken place behind the scenes and a new contract for David de Gea is not far away.

The Spaniard remains an elite shot-stopper, but he continues to cause difficulties in possession, and many United fans believed that his poor performance against Sevilla in the Europa League last month was the final nail in his coffin.

With Sheikh Jassim’s preferred goalie still unclear, the 32-year-old maintains his spot here.

Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, and Camavinga defend.

Eduardo Camavinga began his career as a youth midfielder with Rennes, but Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has regularly played him as a left-back during his rookie season, where the 20-year-old has been very efficient.

It’s unclear where Ten Hag intends to utilize the £34m star, who will almost certainly cost much more this summer, but with United currently stacked in midfield, the youngster’s greatest chance of cracking the starting XI could be on the left side of the defense.

Elsewhere in the backline, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is still battling Diogo Dalot for the right-back position, while Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane are much more certain as the starting center-back duo.

Casemiro, Fernandes, and Eriksen play in the midfield.

Although Bruno Fernandes is the youngest of the three at 28 years old, the midfield is one of United’s strongest positions, with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen’s experience proving invaluable during Ten Hag’s first season at Old Trafford.

While Camavinga could make a case for a more defensive-minded role in the middle of the park, the trio in question already have a valuable balance of attributes that should allow United to compete with the best, assuming other areas of the squad match up.

Coman, Mbappe, and Rashford lead the attack.

This summer, United’s attacking department will require some improvement. In recent weeks, the two most frequently connected attackers to Old Trafford have been Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen, but Bild claims that Sheikh Jassim will try his luck at wooing Mbappe away from Paris Saint-Germain, which would almost certainly need an expensive fee.

Bayern Munich’s Coman is also thought to be interested, and partnering the 26-year-old with the in-form Marcus Rashford on the opposite flank might be disastrous for the Red Devils’ future opponents.
