Following the heartbreaking death of Cristiano Ronaldo’s newborn baby, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has written Cristiano Ronaldo a heartfelt message.
Ronaldo was unable to play in United’s 4-0 loss at Anfield on Tuesday night after he and his partner Georgina Rodriguez confirmed the death of their unborn son. Since making the announcement, Ronaldo and Rodriguez have received numerous condolences and offers of support. On Merseyside, there was an unique display of support from both sets of supporters during Tuesday’s match.
In the seventh minute, both sets of fans erupted in applause in favor of Ronaldo and his companion. In commemoration, home fans shouted their club anthem, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp called the gesture his’moment of the game,’ and he gave Ronaldo his own message of support. Alisson also added his voice to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s letter.
“This magnificent gift from our fans shows that rivalry must be put aside at these moments,” Alisson stated, according to Globo. “I am extremely sorry for what occurred to Cristiano Ronaldo’s family, and I am aware of the immense sorrow he, his wife, and all of his loved ones are through.”
