Man United tell six unhappy players they will not be sold this summer

Manchester United are poised for a busy summer.
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick is anticipated to be replaced by Ajax’s Erik ten Hag, who is currently favored to become the club’s permanent manager.

But it’s not just the manager’s job that’s up for grabs; as many as six players are expected to leave as well.

Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani, Tahith Chong, and Lee Grant have all failed to agree on new contracts and will thus be free to depart Old Trafford when the summer transfer window opens.

However, with as many as a half-dozen players ready to leave, United have informed their other players that they must stay, regardless of whether or not they want to leave, according to a recent Mirror article.

Several players are said to desire to leave, including Dean Henderson, Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, and Eric Bailly.

They will find their prospects of getting a move abroad thwarted, with deals likely to take place only at the very end of the window and after signings have already been made.

It’s easy to see why United has taken this attitude – while ten Hag has yet to be official as the Red Devils’ new manager, the Dutchman’s arrival appears to be just a matter of time, and the tactician will need all players on board in order to completely analyze his possibilities.

Discussing his future ahead of his planned move to Old Trafford, the Ajax manager recently told Sport1: “My emphasis is currently exclusively on Ajax, but in football, you never know.”

“I’m not going to rule anything out.” If I decide to take the next step, I hope that everyone here will understand.

“Everyone in the industry knows everyone else. It’s usual to have discussions with representatives from rival clubs.

“Manchester United is a fantastic club with fantastic fans, but I must reiterate: my entire emphasis is on Ajax!” We’re already making plans for the new season.”
