Contrary to what Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag initially stated, Cristiano Ronaldo has accepted his accusation from the Football Association.

The FA accused Ronaldo of alleged improper conduct in connection with an incident at Everton on April 9 when he shattered a young fan’s phone.

The 37-year-old had until Monday to answer to the charge, and when asked on Wednesday afternoon what Ronaldo’s response had been, Ten Hag replied: “We talked about it. He is not going to accept it.”

However, it is believed that Ronaldo has accepted the charge and that Ten Hag’s response came despite the possibility of a multiple-match punishment for Ronaldo.

According to sources, Ten Hag’s response was due to a misunderstanding of the subject during his pre-match press conference. Before responding, Ten Hag had to seek clarification from the United Press Officer.

United believe that the FA’s decision to suspend Ronaldo for many matches in connection with the case would be disproportionate, and they would support the Portuguese if he chose to give mitigation.

According to FA sources, a hearing will take place regardless of Ronaldo’s response, and United will now await the outcome.

Six months ago, Ronaldo apologized on social media for the incident at Goodison Park and accepted a police caution.

Merseyside police said on August 17 that they had closed their investigation after interviewing Ronaldo in relation to an assault and criminal damage accusation.
