The 21-year-old, who is still on Manchester United’s suspension list, was arrested on January 31 on suspicion of rape and violence before being hauled into jail again on February 1 amid allegations of sexual assault and threatening to kill.

Greenwood appeared before Manchester Crown Court on Monday with his parents and sister.

He did not enter a plea and spoke simply to confirm his name and date of birth throughout the 10-minute session.

Greenwood is scheduled to appear in court again on February 10, 2023, with the same bail terms as before.

The chief prosecutor, Jason Pitter KC, has proposed a November 27, 2023 trial date, which Judge Maurice Greene and Greenwood’s defense have agreed to.

“Mr. Greenwood, the next hearing you will need to appear at is February 10,” stated Judge Greene. You are given bail like before, but you must appear in court or face a further charge. The anticipated trial date is November 27, which is a long time away, so it’s critical that you stay in touch with your lawyers. I’m confident you will. The following date is February 10.”

“Manchester United notes that criminal charges have been made against Mason Greenwood by the Crown Prosecution Service,” the club said in an official statement in October. The club has suspended him awaiting the outcome of the legal proceedings.”
