Garnacho returned to the bench on Sunday after starting in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against the Whites but failing to make an impression. He was replaced by Jadon Sancho. Erik ten Hag’s team, like the one at Old Trafford, was faced by a persistent and rugged Leeds outfit as they struggled to gain momentum.

The 18-year-old came off the bench just past the hour and witnessed Marcus Rashford open the goal with a stunning header before capitalizing on a weary Whites side five minutes later. He received a pass from Wout Weghorst and stormed past Robin Koch to score at Illan Meslier’s near post.

After the ball bounced off the post, the Argentine sprinted towards the away end and appeared to mimic Ronaldo’s ‘I’m Here’ celebration, which United fans caught up on.

Despite allowing the majority of chances to a Leeds side without a manager, United was clinical when called upon. Rash ford’s spectacular header put the Reds ahead with 10 minutes remaining before Garnacho effectively ended the game. Before the final whistle, the visitors had the ball in the net twice more, but both Rashford and Weghorst – who is still seeking his maiden league goal – were offside.

Three points lifted United over Manchester City and into second place in the league, with their four wins in the past five games providing a boost ahead of Thursday’s Europa League first-leg quarterfinal play-off against Barcelona.
