MAN UTD TRANSFER IS AVOIDED BY SERGEJ MILINKOVIC-SAVIC

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been informed that joining Manchester United could jeopardize his career and that he should instead join their rivals.

Since the days of Jose Mourinho, the Lazio star has been on the Red Devils’ radar. The Serie A club valued the player at over £130 million (€150 million) at the time, which was more than United was willing to pay.

However, his name has been circulating again, and stories over the summer hinted that he could become a target again.

Furthermore, with his contract expiring in 2024, it was claimed that a departure for about £56.7m (€65m) could be on the cards.

While that deal did not materialize, he appears to be on Erik ten Hag’s wishlist ahead of the January transfer window.

Indeed, talk that he could join Manchester United elicited a furious reaction from Milinkovic-Savic.

However, suggestions that United may make a play to sign him in January have now been debunked.

Milinkovic-Savic has been told to join Manchester City.

This comes after Italian journalist Giuseppe Bergomi advised the footballer that a move to Old Trafford would be detrimental to his career.

Instead, Bergomi has discussed a move to Manchester City, claiming that he would thrive there in the same way that Kevin De Bruyne did.

Bergomi told LazioNews24: “But why don’t the top teams come to take him, that’s what I’m thinking.” The best club? He must select the best team for his abilities.

“It’s not ideal to send him to Manchester United; if he goes to City, he’ll be like De Bruyne.”

Despite the warning, Milinkovic-Savic will almost certainly be considered if United fails to sign top target Frenkie de Jong.

The Red Devils signed Casemiro over the summer, but reports say he was not a priority for Ten Hag.
