ERIC MAXIM CHOUPO-MOTING HOPES GROW FOR MAN UTD Erik ten Hag is pushing up his efforts to recruit Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in January, with Manchester United expressing serious interest in the striker.

The United boss was given permission to spend well over £200 million in the summer in order to shake up his newly acquired squad. While there have been glimpses of progress, Sunday’s 3-1 defeat against Aston Villa demonstrates that much more work still to be done.

Indeed, Ten Hag is hard at work planning for the January window and strengthening his team. His priority will apparently be to recruit a new right-back, with a new No. 1 goalkeeper to replace David De Gea also being considered.

However, they appear to be striving to improve their offensive alternatives.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future remains uncertain. And, as we reported last week, a move to Sporting Lisbon is becoming more likely following a significant U-turn by their boss.

And, while Ronaldo has not been at his prolific best this season, with only three goals to his name, Ten Hag understands he will still need a replacement if the star leaves.
