With his £63 million release clause likely to activate at the end of the season, the Borussia Dortmund superstar is pondering his future move. Haaland has scored 23 goals in 24 games for Dortmund this season, bringing his total for the Bundesliga giants to 80 goals in 83 appearances across all competitions.

That form, along with the upcoming clause, has Europe’s biggest and finest teams on high alert, anticipating a lengthy and costly quest for his signature. Mino Raiola has already pitched his client to a number of possible purchasers, both in and out of the Premier League.

United, on the other hand, does not look to be in the running, with ESPN reporting that he is concerned about his objectives being realized at Old Trafford. United came agonizingly close to signing the Norwegian in 2020, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer traveling to Austria to meet him during his final days at RB Salzburg. United, on the other hand, is thought to be unwilling to accept Raiola’s demands, which include a sell-on price and release conditions.

The 21-year-old has piqued interest by demonstrating that he is more than capable of performing in one of Europe’s elite leagues. United are looking for a striker, with interim manager Ralf Rangnick saying that a younger alternative would be preferable than relying on veterans like Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani, who is scheduled to leave at the end of the season.

When asked if he plans to recruit a younger striker when the market opens, Rangnick said, “This is evident.”

Edison’s contract is up in the summer, and the club is in desperate need of a new center forward. This is a no-brainer. That is something I believe everyone is aware of.”

Haaland would be ideal, but according to the report, he has already turned down an offer from Old Trafford when the club approached him and his intermediaries early this season. United is said to have been willing to match any offer from a competitor, but Haaland is more concerned with finding the best’sporting project’ than with making the most money.

Last month, reports circulated that Dortmund was forcing Haaland to reveal his future plans by the end of April. Dortmund’s head of licensed player department, Sebastian Kehl, rejected this, saying, “There is no timeframe and no statement concerning Haaland.” Much has been written in recent days, but much of it is false.”

Manchester City and Real Madrid are thought to be the frontrunners in the hunt for Haaland, with the prospect of working under Pep Guardiola proving appealing to the player. Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, has previously ruled out a move, insisting he wants “nothing to do with” the prospective blockbuster deal.
