The Italian reporter is normally on top of the latest transfer news, but it appears that the Malacia deal caught him off guard due to the speed with which Manchester United moved.

The Red Devils hijacked Malacia’s move to Lyon, which was about to happen, and Romano wasn’t expecting things to turn so rapidly with the young Dutchman.

Malacia, a 22-year-old left-back, ended up joining United from Feyenoord, and it appears that the Premier League giants made a good decision.

“Tyrrell Malacia at Manchester United surprised me the most,” Romano stated in his exclusive CaughtOffside piece.

“He was literally one step away from joining Olympique Lyonnais before Man United hijacked the deal in less than 24 hours.”

MUFC fans may be delighted with how this transpired, and they can look forward to more promising information in the future, with Romano confirming that an official statement on Lisandro Martinez should be made within the next few hours.
