Ten Hag is expected to leave Ajax at the end of the season, according to MEN Sport. The Dutchman has previously been interviewed for the vacant Old Trafford role.

With a number of first-team players’ contracts expiring at the end of the current season, United faces a busy summer. Van van Vaart has cautioned those who will remain at the club about what to expect if Ten Hag is hired.

The ex-Ajax player said on Z Select: “Manchester United for Ten Hag? It’s lovely.

“You don’t wait for a club like Manchester United. These players can no longer make excuses.

“They forced so many managers to resign while the team is performing so poorly. They now have a manager who will be very straightforward and convey his plan. Those who refuse to participate will be evicted.”

Players such as Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, and Edinson Cavani are anticipated to depart the club before the start of the next season. Meanwhile, MEN Sport understands that United would prioritize the purchase of a central midfielder in the summer.
