Mason Mount has moved one step closer to being a Manchester United player. The 24-year-old midfielder has faced an unclear future at Stamford Bridge for some time, and he now appears poised to quit the club after 18 years.

According to football.london, the two clubs have reached an agreement worth roughly £60 million for Mount, who has agreed personal terms with the Red Devils. United are expected to pay the Blues £55 million, plus a further £5 million in add-ons, and the England international will now go through the formalities of joining a new club.

One of these is his medical. Mount arrived at Carrington on Monday, July 3, according to the Manchester Evening News, to have a medical before the mooted swap.

According to the report, the Cobham graduate came to United’s training field in a van at 8 a.m. Mount is expected to be formally introduced as a Red Devils player in the coming days, and he might make his debut against Leeds United in a friendly next week.

Frank Lampard predicted the midfielder’s exit in May, saying he didn’t know how Chelsea planned to keep him. “I think that’s a difficult situation because from working with Mason – and not just Mason, other players when I was here before – they have either gone on to be really important players for the club that have a real relationship with the fans because they really feel the club, having been in the academy since eight years of age, and some of them have gone on to other clubs and the club has done well out of it,” the former Blues caretaker manager told Sky Sports.

“I don’t know what the solution will be with Mason, particularly as an individual, because it’s the club’s and Mason’s problem.” I’m not sure where Mason is right now; he has a year left on his contract.

“I know he’s held in high regard at the club, and I know the club is doing everything they can to keep him, but Mason, I’d never want to stand here in the modern day and talk about what a player should do because they’ll see it all with their own eyes.”

“I think it used to be why are you leaving the club?” In today’s world, you should go on, and we’ve gotten ourselves into this mess.”

While Mount’s departure marks the end of a fantastic period at Chelsea, the Blues have already devised a replacement plan. According to the Evening Standard, the West Londoners will make a proposal for Gabri Veiga once his move to Old Trafford is finalized.

According to the source, the club’s initial plan was to sign only one defensive midfielder. But, after so many midfielders have departed, the 21-year-old Celta Viga star has been evaluated and his £ 34.6 million release clause is apparently a ‘attractive inducement.
