Prior to Ten Hag’s appointment, Rashford had been a peripheral character at Old Trafford following a disappointing Premier League campaign last year. Last season, the 24-year-old scored just five goals in all competitions after missing the start of the season due to shoulder surgery.

There was even talk over the summer that the Manchester United academy graduate may leave the club in order to jumpstart his career, but Rashford is now thriving as Ten Hag’s main man.

Rashford has been re-energized after being moved into his favored No.9 spot, and he has three goals and two assists in six games for the Red Devils, who are coming off four straight league victories.

And Ten Hag has revealed the first conversation he had with the England star after his arrival from Ajax in the summer, following Rashford’s troubles last season.

“I was very pleased to work with him from day one,” Ten Hag told Sky Sports ahead of the Manchester derby. “When I saw his status, I recognized the influence and potential he might have.” Now he’s taking that potential to the pitch, and I’m quite pleased with his progress.

“I told him on the first day that I wanted to see you smile every day.” We stated that we will organize the training sessions, but it is up to you to enjoy the training and give your all because when you are under pressure and enjoy it, you will give your all.

“If you give your all, you will progress and do well on the field.” Then life will be easier, and your performance will improve.”

Rashford was named Premier League player of the month for September on Friday, thanks to his current form. After winning the prize, he praised Ten Hag for the influence he has already had at the club.

On the eve of the Manchester derby, Rashford commented, “It’s a nice feeling.” “We didn’t have a great start to the season, so four wins in a row are fantastic.”

“It’s still very fresh with the management, and we’ve gotten a lot better at doing what he wants us to do.” But there are still many steps to be taken, and we’re all excited to undertake them together.”
