Erik ten Hag admits Manchester United still have “a lot of work to do” after their 4-0 triumph against Liverpool on Tuesday.

The Dutchman began his tenure as manager of Manchester United with an amazing victory in Thailand, courtesy of a solid first-half performance in which they scored three times without reply.

Jadon Sancho scored early to put United ahead in a tense game before a quick double from Fred and Anthony Martial put Ten Hag’s side in command.

Despite the scoreline, Liverpool had a lot of good chances during the game, but United rode their luck and defended brilliantly at times to keep a clean sheet.

United will be looking for another strong performance against Melbourne Victory on Friday, although Ten Hag admits there is still much work to be done.

“We have a lot to do,” he said following the triumph at Stadium Astro. “Liverpool is a fantastic squad, and you can’t beat them if you make mistakes on defense.”

“We had several circumstances where we didn’t react effectively, and they had so much speed right away, so we gave up three, four, five pretty excellent opportunities again.” So we have a lot of work ahead of us.”
