“We are quite upset with the outcome. It’s tough to put into words how we feel right now. We didn’t put forth enough effort in either game to win. “It’s been a very terrible day for us,” De Gea said on BT Sport.

“They have a lot of experience as a team.” They know how to win in the Champions League.

“They scored a goal, and they’re a tough squad, so it was difficult for us to create chances.” We are quite disappointed because we have been eliminated from one of the most important events.”

Since Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, United has only made it to the last eight of Europe’s top club competition twice. The club’s most recent trophy was the Europa League, which they won five years ago.

“Of course, it isn’t enough. It’s difficult for the club, for ourselves, and for the fans. “It’s quite difficult,” De Gea admitted.

“This is where we are right now. It’s a challenging scenario. We must continue to fight. I’m very depressed. But we weren’t up to the task.”
