Erik ten Hag, the new manager of Manchester United, has stated that there are “no agreements” in place to bring any of his Ajax players to Old Trafford when he takes over at the end of the season.

On April 22, the 52-year-old was appointed as the Red Devils’ next permanent manager on a three-year contract with a one-year extension option, putting an end to months of speculation and searches by United executives. After the season, the Dutchman will join his new club and is set to supervise a massive renovation of the squad this summer, supported by football expert Ralf Rangnick.

Rangnick, who will also serve as Austria’s new manager, has made no attempt to hide the fact that the squad will undergo big changes this summer, with the German speculating that up to ten new players may join. Ten Hag was also said to be interested in bringing some of his Ajax talents to the Premier League as part of his move, with center-back Jurrien Timber being one of those mentioned.

However, Ajax’s manager claimed that he has not yet discussed any trades and is only focused on the Dutch giants’ title quest. “No, there are no agreements on that,” he responded during a press conference on Friday when questioned about it. “I now have really good players, so it’s not a problem.”

With three games remaining, Ajax leads PSV Eindhoven by four points, and Ten Hag may win his third title if Ajax beats AZ Alkmaar and their opponents lose to Feyenoord. After losing to PSV in the KNVB Cup, Man United’s new coach will want to leave on a positive note, and he has parked all of his future tasks with United for the time being.

Ten Hag has apparently already determined what to do with Cristiano Ronaldo, who is expected to come with an unclear future. United can no longer finish in the top four, and the lack of Champions League play for next season may tempt the Portuguese superstar to move on.

When asked about Ronaldo’s future, though, the coach avoided making any final statements, saying, “Those are questions for the future.” We’re in a crucial title race and a crucial week. I now want to concentrate on that rather than Manchester United.”

While Ten Hag refused to name specific players, it is thought that United are forging ahead with their ambitions to add players before the summer transfer window. Timber, a full Netherlands international and regular for his club, and Ajax’s Brazilian winger Antony, who has been linked with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, are likely to be among them. The team has previously made contact with Reim’s prodigy Hugo Ekitike, who was coveted by Newcastle United in January but turned it down.

Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, and Paul Pogba are all out of contract in the summer and are expected to go, implying that new faces will emerge as part of a massive summer restructure at the club. Other players who could be sold include Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Marcus Rashford, Eric Bailly, Anthony Martial, and Dean Henderson.
