De Gea, 32, is currently a free agent after his contract with United expired at the end of last season.

New signing Andre Onana has replaced him as No 1, but his performance since joining from Inter Milan in the summer has raised concerns.

De Gea has remained silent about his future, fueling speculation that he might consider retirement rather than pursuing his professional career.

The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper generated buzz when he shared an Instagram photo of himself back in Manchester on Tuesday.

This led to an outpouring of comments from fans, with some even speculating about a potential return to Old Trafford.

However, the Daily Mail has confirmed the true reason for De Gea’s return to England.

The report stated, “The Spanish goalkeeper returned to the UK on Monday to spend a few days taking care of the house in Hale, where he lived before leaving United after a 12-year tenure at the end of June.”

De Gea has since reunited with his pop star partner, Edurne Garcia, and their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Yanay, at their family home in Madrid. The couple tied the knot in Menorca last summer.

The report also mentioned that De Gea has not made a decision regarding his next career move.

“It is understood that De Gea, who will turn 33 next month, is taking it easy about his future as he enjoys some well-deserved family time, without rushing to secure a new club,” the report added.

That said, the situation may change in January. However, having earned £375,000 per week during his last four years at Old Trafford, he can afford to take his time.
