Since his arrival at Old Trafford, United’s Brazilian midfielder has faced a lot of criticism. His performances have improved under Ralf Rangnick’s leadership.

Since the interim manager’s hiring, Fred has scored six goals, compared to just one when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge this season. Kleberson, an ex-Red and fellow Brazilian, believes Fred is underappreciated despite having the best workrate in the club.

“Many people treat Fred unfairly,” he explained to Paddy Power. “He is the lone player who always gives it his all; all he needs now is for the other players to do the same in order for the team to be effective.

“He’s a dynamic player who competes well and strives to play his best football, and he has a good chance. This season, he’s logged a lot of minutes and has proven his worth.

“He has been consistent this season when the rest of the squad has been inconsistent, and this will benefit him in the future. If another manager takes over at Manchester United, they’ll see that he has some flaws, but he works so hard on the field and creates a lot of positive moments for the team even when they’re not playing well.”
