Mason Greenwood, a Manchester United footballer, has a trial date set after being accused of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault.

On Monday, the 21-year-old player appeared in Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court for a hearing.

The footballer, who was dressed in a black suit, a white shirt, and a black tie, only spoke to confirm his name and date of birth.

Prosecutor Jason Pitter KC requested a case management hearing on February 10 of next year.

A trial date of November 27, 2023, has been scheduled, with the case expected to last 10 days.

There were no pleas made in response to the accusations.

Greenwood’s parents were present in court for the 10-minute session.

Greenwood was granted bail with the same terms as before by Judge Maurice Greene.

The footballer was arrested for the first time in January on allegations involving a lady after photographs and videos were released online.

He was released on bond but was detained in October for allegedly violating his restrictions.

Greenwood was remanded in custody on October 17 after appearing at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.

A bail application was granted two days later in a private hearing, and he was released from HMP Berwyn in Wrexham.

He was granted bail with the restriction that he does not contact any witnesses, including the complainant, and that he resides at an address in Bow Green Road, Bowdon.

The attempted rape is said to have occurred in October 2021.

The controlling and coercive behavior occurred between November 2018 and October of this year, during which time he is accused of making threatening and disparaging statements to the complainant, as well as accessing and monitoring her social media accounts.

The charge of assault resulting in actual bodily harm was filed in December 2021.

The forward, who has made one appearance for England, was prohibited from playing or training with the Old Trafford club within hours of the allegations appearing online at the start of the year.

Greenwood’s sponsorship relationship with Nike was suspended and then canceled, and Electronic Arts verified his removal from active squads in its FIFA 22 game.
