‘You don’t care about your fans – Glazer’ – Ferdinand And Beckham Get Egg On Faces After Sheikh Jassim’s Man Utd Bid Fails

The failed Manchester United takeover bid by Sheikh Jassim marks a significant turn of events, with the latest development bringing an 11-month takeover saga to an end.

This outcome contradicts the expectations, as former footballer Rio Ferdinand had previously predicted the success of Sheikh Jassim’s bid.

News surfaced on Saturday that the Qatari banker had decided to withdraw his bid for Manchester United, while Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the chief of INEOS, is now set to secure a 25 percent stake in the club. The club itself has yet to release an official statement, but it’s expected in the near future.

For a considerable period, it appeared that Sheikh Jassim would emerge victorious in the takeover battle. Rio Ferdinand, in June, even released a video claiming that the bid had been “accepted.” However, this United dream of Sheikh Jassim has come to an end.

This turn of events is somewhat awkward for David Beckham, who had been rumored to become one of United’s ambassadors if Sheikh Jassim succeeded in buying the club. The former England captain had refuted these rumors earlier in the month.

Back in June, Ferdinand shared on his Five YouTube channel: “The Manchester United takeover is imminent. We are hearing the Qatari bid is the one that has been accepted, the one that is imminent, and the one that is going to go through. Hallelujah, man. I cannot wait.

“Please let this happen. Look how long this has gone on for. The Glazers have dug their heels in. It will go to the biggest bidder, which is normal in negotiations, but I want this to be resolved before the transfer window kicks in and now it is opening and starting to move.”

Ferdinand emphasized that the information came from “a good source.” However, as we now know, the takeover wasn’t concluded before the summer transfer window, nor did Sheikh Jassim emerge as the victor. Instead, Ratcliffe will become a minority shareholder.

This means the Glazers will remain in control for the time being. Ratcliffe may have ambitions of eventually becoming the controlling shareholder of United, but it could take time for the Glazers to make that transition. Co-chairs Avram and Joel remain determined to stay involved.

Sheikh Jassim’s unsuccessful bid means that Beckham, who serves as an ambassador for Qatar, will not be making a swift return to Old Trafford.

Although there has been no discussion about him becoming an ambassador for United, Beckham is keen to see a complete takeover.

In Beckham’s words: “At the moment, there has been no discussion. I have had a long-standing relationship with Qatar, because of my involvement with PSG. Obviously, there will be some connection, and people put two and two together.

“There will be a takeover; it is the right time. We all have our opinions on who should take over, but in my opinion, it is about who cares about the club the most and will take the club back to where it should be.”

Beckham further stated: “Manchester United will always be one of the biggest clubs in the world. We need to get back to that for the fans, the players, and the manager because, at the moment, there is no stability. We need to get the talk back on the field, not off it.”
