Even though the Rio de Janeiro club has a €20 million buyout option on the midfielder, it’s been reported that a deal has been reached to make the move permanent for €10.5 million, which is still deemed too expensive.

That is why ‘key officials’ at Flamengo were believed to be seeking to cancel the transaction, but that will not happen, according to reports over the weekend.

According to journalist Venê Casagrande on YouTube, the Brazilian club will honor the deal, and the announcement was simply postponed so the player could compete in the Super Cup.

“The transaction has been completed. They simply did not disclose it due to bureaucracy; the Brazilian Super Cup is approaching, and they did not want to risk missing Andreas Pereira in this contract swap,” Casagrande explained (via Torcedores),

“There is no way Flamengo will abandon the transaction. ‘What credibility would we have after leaving here, staying four, five days there talking to Manchester United, and then going back to Brazil and giving up?’ said a Flamengo official. There isn’t even a remote probability.”

Flamengo lost the Super Cup on Sunday, despite the fact that Andreas was not even utilized.

As a result, it may still be a few days before they actually announce his permanent presence, but the belief is that it will happen eventually.
