Manchester United’s left winger Alex Telles has joined Sevilla on loan for the season.

Sevilla’s wages are being paid in full, according to United sources, and there is no commitment to buy.

Telles, 29, is the second first-team player to leave on loan for the season, following Dean Henderson’s move to Nottingham Forest. The newly promoted Premier League club is also covering the goalkeeper’s whole salary.

Telles joined United from Porto for €15 million, which will be increased to €20 million on deadline day in October 2020, and the Brazilian started 22 games last season. In January, Sevilla signed Anthony Martial on loan from Manchester United.

Telles’ United career effectively ended with the signing of fellow left-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, and he played as an auxiliary center-back and midfielder during the pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia.

Telles started at left-back against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, but that friendly was organized for United’s reserve team after the first team faced Atletico Madrid in Oslo on Saturday.

Telles is under contract with United until 2024, with an option for an extra year.

United is also interested in selling fullbacks Brandon Williams and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Williams, 21, has not played in preseason owing to injury, and his playing prospects have not improved with Malacia’s arrival.

Wan-Bissaka, 24, has not started any of United’s six friendlies this season and was ruled out of both games this weekend. On Tuesday, the right-back reported at United’s Carrington compound for training.

Ethan Laird has agreed to join Watford on loan, therefore United is looking for a right-back.

Center-backs Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, and Axel Tuanzebe are all available for transfer as United seeks to cut the defensive department following the arrivals of Malacia and Lisandro Martinez.
