Manchester United are hoping to sign another Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored goals for Manchester United despite the fact that both players were nearing the end of their sparkling careers during their time at the club.

Manchester United has identified Harry Kane as their top summer transfer target. As a result, it appears that the Red Devils are looking to sign another forward aged 30 or older. Despite failing to lead the club to Premier League title glory with Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Kane might be the way to the rewards the Red Devils have been begging for.

Manchester United is also a fan of Napoli midfielder Victor Osimhen, who has been in outstanding form this season.

Yet Kane appears to be their major target, with the attacker expected to depart Tottenham at the end of the season.

Certainly, making a move is not easy. Spurs will be obstinate in their negotiations, having refused to trade a single player to Manchester United since 2008.

Yet United are confident of landing England’s captain, and any takeover would increase their chances of doing so.

United is hoping that Kane can serve as proof that old is gold, even if we wouldn’t use that term to describe the Spurs superstar.

He is, however, now in his forties and fifties. And, if he does cross the border, he will be the latest veteran to do so.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were both that age or older when they returned from Real Madrid and Brentford, respectively, in the summer.

Prior to those signings, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer risked re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo in 2021.

The attacker was 36 when he returned to Old Trafford, but Solskjaer and Joel Glazer believed he could still contribute.

Despite the lack of a trophy, Ronaldo’s second spell was nevertheless spectacular. The Red Devils may have been in even worse shape if it hadn’t been for his 24 goals last season.

Another signing that year was Tom Heaton, however, the United veteran has only started one competitive match since.

Yet, the team has signed two additional key forwards in recent years.

Edinson Cavani battled injuries but still impressed, particularly in his first season, when he scored 17 goals in all competitions.

And Ibrahimovic was perhaps the best golden oldie of them all, scoring 28 goals to help the club win the Carabao Cup and EFL Cup in 2016/2017.

Should the United land Kane, they will demand considerably larger sums.

Yet there is growing optimism at Old Trafford that the 30-year-old will be available at the conclusion of the season.

Former Arsenal and Liverpool striker Jermaine Pennant, on the other hand, believes Kane would be the ‘ideal’ striker for United.

Pennant told talkSPORT: “Harry Kane would be an absolutely great addition (for United).” “He would be ideal!”

“Would you say he lacks ambition if he stays?” The spurs will not win any trophies in the next two or three years.

“And he’ll be 30 in July.” The timer is ticking. A player of that caliber should be aiming for major awards.

“The only place he can go is United.”

United last attacked Tottenham 15 years ago for Dimitar Berbatov.

Spurs have bluntly refused to let players like Eric Dier, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, and Toby Alderweireld leave north London for Manchester since then.
