Ralf Rangnick names two players who can help solve Cristiano Ronaldo struggles at Manchester United

Ralf Rangnick feels Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford can both help Cristiano Ronaldo relax after his recent goal-scoring problems. Ronaldo has only scored once in his past eight Premier League outings, and he missed several chances in last week’s goalless draw with Watford.

Despite his recent troubles in front of goal, the Portuguese forward has scored 15 goals in 31 appearances this season across all competitions, including a handful of crucial goals in the Champions League.

Ronaldo’s issues are due in part to an overreliance on him as a result of Mason Greenwood’s ongoing absence from training and selection, as well as Edinson Cavani’s recent injury problems, which have increased the club’s expectations of the veteran striker.

Rangnick was eager to relieve Ronaldo’s load, and he feels Cavani and Rashford can help them overcome their current goal-scoring woes: “Nobody could have predicted a few things that happened in the last several weeks.

“We have different possibilities now that Edinson is available for the game and the next games. With Marcus Rashford, we have yet another youngster on whom I will insist on putting my whole support in order to help him develop. We’ve done it with a number of young players in the past, and I don’t see why Marcus can’t do the same.

“He has a lot of talent, speed, physicality, and everything else a modern attacker needs, whether he plays on the wing or in the center. I’ll devote all of my efforts to ensuring that he follows the same route as other players in recent months.”
