JEREMI FRIMPONG’S TEN-HAG MOVE IS ‘MORE AND MORE APPARENT

According to reports in Germany, Manchester United is intensifying its pursuit of Jeremie Frimpong.

United manager Erik ten Hag has won his first trophy as manager after winning the Carabao Cup. However, the Dutchman recognizes that additional reinforcements are required if his team is to begin competing for the game’s top prizes. As a result, plans for more major upgrades at Old Trafford this summer are already in place.

Ten Hag is looking for a new striker to replace loanee Wout Weghorst. While the Dutchman has been effective, his goal record is not stellar, and his loan will not be extended.

Ten Hag wants to bring in new defenders at Manchester United in addition to a new forward.

And, while United has Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot as options at right-back, it is claimed that he is desperate to sign Frimpong.

This season, the former Manchester City man has been outstanding for Bayer Leverkusen. Indeed, he has 12 goals in all competitions this season, a remarkable feat for a right-back. It is also double the sum of Dalot (five) and Wan-Bissaka (one) for this term.

Frimpong is an improvement over both Wan-Bissaka and Dalot.
He can also play in a more advanced right-wing role and is equally at home in a flat-back four or as a wing-back.

Frimpong’s form has earned him the title of “special player” from his manager, Xavi Alonso.

But, it appears that Leverkusen will have to fight hard to keep him. Furthermore, while they value him between £40m and £50m, a deal can apparently be struck for between £30m and £35m.

His contract is set to expire in 2025, but Leverkusen would be hard-pressed to turn down a substantial offer for his services.

Now Sky Sports Germany reports a United move for Frimpong is becoming more and more obvious as the summer transfer window approaches.

If United signs Frimpong, Ten Hag will consider releasing one of Dalot or Wan-Bissaka. The latter is the favorite, but much rests on Dalot’s willingness to sign a new contract.

His current contract at Old Trafford is set to expire in the summer of 2024, and he may be released if no renewal is reached.

LIVERPOOL GOES AFTER INTER MILAN STAR

Liverpool is stepping up its pursuit of a midfielder this summer, sending scouts to watch a Serie A standout this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp faces a big rebuilding project this summer after the Reds fell far short of their typically high standards.

And, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and possibly James Milner on the way out, the midfield will be crucial.

To that end, Liverpool is set to add at least two new engine room players.

And their interest in signing Jude Bellingham is well documented. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has established himself as one of the world’s best.

Yet, despite being only 19 years old, he is sure to command a hefty sum to match his talent.

According to recent sources, BVB is asking £132 million (€150 million) for Bellingham’s suitors. While Liverpool’s owners, FSG, are eager to contribute to a summer reconstruction, Bellingham’s demand may be out of their financial range.

As a result, it is unsurprising that Liverpool is apparently considering a variety of alternatives.

Interstar Nicolo Barella is one name that has been repeatedly connected with Liverpool throughout the years.

The Italy midfielder is worth roughly £60 million, which may have appeared too high for Liverpool at one point.

Nevertheless, with Enzo Fernandez joining Chelsea for £105.7 million and Bellingham’s new estimate, it suddenly looks like a steal.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool is intensifying their pursuit of Barella.

They report that Liverpool scouts have been keeping a close eye on Barella in recent weeks. And reports that a summer approach is in the works are gaining traction in Italy.

EVERTON SECURES CHRIS SMALLING DEAL

Everton is interested in bringing back former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling this summer.

Since leaving Manchester United for Serie A in 2019, the Roma defender has impressed.

But, his contract is set to expire in the summer, with Roma having the option to extend it for another year.

But, they are unlikely to extend his contract, implying that a cheap transfer is in the cards.
