David De Gea has stated that he would be willing to stay at Manchester United for the rest of his career.

Manchester United’s contract with the Spanish goalkeeper expires at the end of next season.

Manchester United is likely to begin contract negotiations with David De Gea this summer in the hopes of keeping him at Old Trafford.

De Gea also admits that he is too comfortable at Manchester to consider joining another team.

“I’ve been here for a long time and, obviously, anything can happen in life, in football,” he remarked, “but honestly, I don’t see myself leaving Manchester United.”

After joining United from Atletico Madrid for a then-British record £18.1 million in 2011, De Gea struggled to settle in.

However, the 31-year-old went on to become United’s uncontested No. 1 – and is currently the club’s longest-serving player.

De Gea was on the verge of joining Real Madrid in 2015, but the deal fell through at the last minute.

Since then, he has gone on to become one of the highest-paid goalkeepers in the world, earning £400,000 per week and helping United win seven trophies, including the Premier League title in 2013.

Andy Cole predicted last week that United would be doomed to finish in the middle of the table without De Gea.

“Manchester United are mid-table without this guy’s form,” the 1999 treble champion stated of De Gea.

“I don’t believe anyone can disagree with it.” This season, he’s been in incredible form. That tells me Manchester United isn’t nearly as good as they should be.”

“They are not where they should be defensively, midfield is not where they should be, and they are not scoring enough goals up front.”

“I believe they would be in serious trouble without that man (De Gea).”
