Ronaldo will miss Tuesday night’s crucial Premier League game at Anfield, but home fans are likely to continue their outpouring of support for him during this difficult time.

Ronaldo expressed his “deepest anguish” on Instagram on Monday, revealing that his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez had given birth to a baby girl but that the twin’s baby brother had died.

On social media, Liverpool fans have been considering putting rivalries aside, with numerous groups currently discussing a minute’s applause. “If you are lucky enough to be attending the game tomorrow evening, please show your respect to Cristiano Ronaldo and his family by taking part in the round of applause which will be held on the seventh minute,” one popular post on a Liverpool group on Facebook reportedly wrote.

“Rivalries should be set aside in terrible situations like this. CR7 Jr., You’ll Never Walk Alone”

“If you are attending like me, please applaud on the seventh minute to show respect to Cristiano Ronaldo and his family during this painful moment,” another fan wrote.

Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Norwich, bringing his season record to 21 goals. However, the Portuguese club issued a statement on Tuesday morning stating that Ronaldo has been suspended from participation on Tuesday.
