Ronaldo has been contemplating his future with Manchester United after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League this season. Regular starts have been difficult to come by for the Portuguese great under Erik ten Hag since then.

Ronaldo’s contract with Manchester United expires at the conclusion of the season, although he can be extended for another year. However, speculation over where he might land next has not subsided.

Sporting Lisbon is one of the possible destinations for Ronaldo. He began his career there before moving on to Manchester United for a brief stint. As a result, it would be an emotional comeback.

And, according to TEAMtalk transfer specialist Graeme Bailey, Ronaldo may be interested in returning to Sporting. Furthermore, the Primeira Liga club is still interested in re-signing the 37-year-old.

“We won’t stop talking about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future until we know where he’s going, and one of the few realistic options is Sporting Lisbon,” Bailey added.

Despite having that option with Manchester United, Ronaldo may be interested in participating as a Sporting player.

“Leaving the Champions League was not ideal for sport.” However, the fact that they are still in the Europa League and have a legitimate chance of winning it may appeal to Ronaldo, who still believes he has a few of seasons left in him,” Bailey continued.

“We won’t know what will happen with Ronaldo until after the World Cup, as other options will undoubtedly emerge in addition to Sporting.” But we must not overlook or dismiss his enthusiasm for the club.”

Ronaldo made 31 appearances and scored five goals during his previous stint at Sporting. Manchester United bought him once he demonstrated his talent, and the rest is history.
