Ex-Liverpool star admits he’d love to see two Chelsea players sign for Klopp’s side if Blues crisis continues

Former Liverpool midfielder Michael Thomas has admitted that if the west London club’s turmoil continues this summer, he would want to see two Chelsea players move to Anfield.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is currently unable to do business with the club due to government sanctions imposed on him for his ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In an exclusive interview with CaughtOffside, Thomas highlighted some Chelsea players he’d want to see Liverpool swoop for if the club’s issue isn’t sorted before the end of the season.

The former Reds midfielder singled out Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic as players he’d like to see join Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

“Clearly, the Chelsea scenario is not ideal for anyone at the club,” Thomas added, “but they do have a lot of quality players.”

“I would probably take two players at Liverpool: Havertz and Kovacic.” I believe both of those players could successfully assimilate into the present system.”

Havertz appears to have the potential to fill the Roberto Firmino role at Anfield, while Kovacic is a cerebral midfielder who may be an upgrade over erratic players like Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita.

Thomas also addressed two other recent transfer reports, emphasizing the necessity of Liverpool FC keeping Mohamed Salah and advising West Ham not to sign ex-Reds defender Dejan Lovren.

“Liverpool must keep Salah,” said Thomas. “At the elite level, he is a match-winner, and his consistency is incredible.” The club will be aware of this, and I believe they will reach an agreement soon.”

On Lovren’s West Ham connections, he continued, “Lovren was a decent defender.” Solid, though not really mobile. If I were Moyes, I wouldn’t put him at the top of my want list. Perhaps a younger guy who can play and move around more.”
