Bourne received her first professional contract with United in the summer before joining the Championship-level Blades.

“As a young player at the club, it’s very essential to see the pathway to the first team and have those goals that you can attain,” Bourne remarked at the time. I’d want to thank the staff and players from both the Under-21s and the first team, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”

On United’s official website today, it was revealed that the defender had been recalled before being loaned out to another second-tier club, Blackburn Rovers.

The England youth international had previously played for United’s under-21 academy team before being promoted to the first team at the end of last season.

Under Casey Stoney, she earned her debut in United’s 6-0 FA Cup triumph over Burnley in April.

The 18-year-old made 12 appearances in all competitions for Sheffield.

Bourne joins fellow defender Erica Cunningham and midfielder Luana Zajmi as Rovers’ third signing of the transfer window.
