On the inside of the left flank, the playmaker received a pass from Marcelo and produced a wonderful pass with the outside of his foot that landed on the far side of the goal post. The ball was well-received by Rodrygo, who had little trouble burying it inside the net.
The goal provided some solace to the home team as the game was forced to be decided in extra time.
In terms of the total statistics of the game, Chelsea clearly dominated the figures. The visitors controlled the ball for 57% of the time and tried 7 attempts on goal, three more than Madrid did at home.
With over 150 more passes and nine more corners, defending champions Chelsea appeared to be on a mission, but Benzema’s late strike sealed their destiny.
