Florentino Perez issues warning to Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham after Super League backlash

Florentino Perez, the newly appointed chairman of the European Super League, spoke to the media last night, providing additional details on the revamped competition.

The announcement of the new-look European Super League on Sunday sparked an explosive interview last night from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who also happens to be the newly elected chairman of the newly-founded European Super League. Perez argued that the clubs now involved will not be able to break free.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur announced late Sunday evening that they would join Atletico Madrid,

Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus in establishing a new mid-week competition in an attempt to break away from the UEFA Champions League.

The English clubs’ Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur are the clubs that have announced that they will join the new mid-week competition.

To no one’s surprise, the concept has been slammed by football fans all across Europe, as well as big-name pundits like Sky Sports’ Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville, who both harshly attacked the method during an explosive Monday Night Football broadcast.

Against this, Perez defended the choice, stating that the event will promote football while also being the future of the sport.

Also reaffirmed by the Premier League chief executive is that the 12 teams who have agreed to participate in the program would not be allowed to withdraw from it, despite mounting pressure from other quarters, including the Premier League.

‘The deal with the Super League is legally binding,’ stated Real Madrid President. Nobody is permitted to go; we will all work together to complete the task at hand.

Every team signed their contracts on Saturday, so there isn’t an issue.’

The revelation came after a piece by Mail football reporter Olivier Holt claimed that ‘cracks could be beginning to appear’ and that two ‘English clubs are on the point of losing their nerve,’ and Perez admitted that he was right to do so.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez also confirmed that the main reason for the formation of the Super League was to try and boost the bank accounts of the 12 clubs involved after a difficult year for everyone as a result of the coronavirus pandemic,

which has forced turnstiles to stand still and denied supporters the opportunity to support their teams. ‘Many big clubs in Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom want to find a solution to their dire financial circumstances,’ Perez continued.

‘I believe that playing more competitive games is the only way forward.’ Instead of participating in the Champions League, the Super League will provide assistance to clubs in order to recoup their financial losses.

The club has suffered a significant financial loss, and we are all in a precarious financial position. In times like this, the only option to gain money is to play more competitive games throughout the week. The Super League will help the teams by providing financial assistance.
