When the transfer window reopens next month, Manchester United will be looking for a new forward to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. However, with the Glazers and other key people at the club unwilling to break any Financial Fair Play laws, the Red Devils may be forced to seek loan deals instead. Erik ten Hag is determined to strengthen his squad, so Express Sport will now look at four strikers they could seek on a temporary basis.

Felix, Joao
Manchester United was interested in signing Joao Felix from Benfica during the 2019 summer transfer window. However, the Portugal international eventually transferred to Atletico Madrid.

He’s been hot and cold in La Liga, but there’s a sense he’s being kept back, with Diego Simeone’s tactics stifling the 23-year-old.

Atletico Madrid is apparently open to loaning Felix out next month, but they’d need a sum in the area of £100 million for any temporary deal to become permanent.

United has enjoyed previous success with Portuguese players, with Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, and Nani all scoring at Old Trafford.

the slug of the slug.

Depay, Memphis
Memphis Depay was supposed to leave Barcelona earlier this year, but despite persistent ties to Manchester United and other teams, he stayed at the Nou Camp.

However, his future remains uncertain, with the 29-year-old frequently below Robert Lewandowski in Xavi’s pecking order in Catalonia.

Depay has already struggled in English football, with the former Lyon and PSV Eindhoven star toiling under Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.

With Barcelona having to get him off the payroll, he could be an appealing short-term option.

United can sign Depay on loan until the end of the season, paying a significant portion of his salary, before determining whether to make any deal permanent. It’s certainly one to keep an eye on.

Morata, Alvaro
Alvaro Morata of Atletico Madrid is another player United has been linked to recently.

The Spain international scored three goals in four World Cup matches in Qatar, demonstrating that he has what it takes to perform at the greatest level and on the biggest platform.

Morata’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but United may bring him in on loan and then sign him full-time if he performs well.

If history is any guide, Atletico Madrid will not stand in his way. They previously permitted the 30-year-old to go on loan to Serie A heavyweights Juventus for two years.

Morata struggled at Chelsea but has since rebuilt his career. Given Ten Hag’s need for players with the correct personality, a deal cannot be ruled out.

Diaz, Mariano
United has linked with Mariano Diaz four years ago and, while they did not sign him, the Real Madrid player is another alternative for the club.

Due to the presence of Karim Benzema at the Bernabeu, the forward, now 29, regularly struggles for game time.

And, with Diaz only making four La Liga appearances for Real this season, it’s difficult to imagine the Champions League holders standing in the way of any probable escape.

Of course, landing the Spaniard would not exactly send shivers down Manchester’s spine. Particularly with Erling Haaland strutting his thing for the city’s blue side.

However, because United must follow the regulations, they may be forced to target someone of his caliber.
